No Chimney, No Problem

We often get a lot of customers coming into our Totton, Southampton showroom who enquire about electric fires because they don’t have a chimney and they assume they cannot have a Wood burner or Multi fuel stove, but that’s not the case!
The option is that we can fit what is called a Twin wall flue system this is a system that provides you with a quick and easy way to create a new chimney for your new woodturner. You can fit a wood burning stove almost anywhere in the home and you do not need an original chimney. This system provides the same substitute for what would be a brick-built chimney and these systems are double insulated, they have an inner and outer casing, so very efficient.
We go through a very detailed process when preparing the works schedule for the installation of a Twin Wall system. We will have already visited the location and carried out a full-on site survey. Typically, this would involve us firstly launching our Drone to get a helicopter view of the location. We would be typically looking for anything that would obstruct the positioning of the system like overhanging trees or Pylons for example and the proximity to other properties. We check the access to the area that we intend install the system and once these checks are complete, we are ready to issue our schedule of works to our installation team who will attend and complete the installation in a single day.
Once on site we ensure that the internal area where your Fire is located is clear along with the area externally for the flue system. We then drill through to the outside wall skin to determine the angle that the flue will exit to the outside. Once determined we begin the process of opening up the cavity. We then start the construction of the system by putting in place the support bracket and we then build up taking care to fix securely to the outside wall or cladding, typically we will do this on a ladder system or where access is difficult a cherry picker. Once finalised we connect up inside to the fire which sits on a Hearth, typically made of stone or glass and then do a test burn to ensure the system is fully functional. Finally, we commission and then issue the HETAS certification before handing over to our customer.
So, from No chimney to a fully operational Wood burner in the home in one day, No Chimney, No Problem
