Description

British company ESSE have been making stoves since 1854 so they should know what they are about by now. So when they offer an inset stove it has to worth looking at.

And so proves to be the case.

Actually the ESSE 301SE inset stove has been around since 1955 and looks great when placed in a domestic fireplace . Somehow ESSE have managed to retain the traditional look of the fire while insetting it.

Installation is easy too: there is no need to remove the brick fireback and the stove fits neatly into the fireplace. The huge area of glass fronts an equally vast access door, so loading fuel and removing ash could hardly be easier,

Once running, the 301SE performs beautifully. It produces a very useful 4.1kW maximum heat with an impressive 83% heat efficiency. With a solid top, the hot air is pushed forward out ito the room and the primary air intake has been improved to further support the heat performance.

This stoves burns in such an efficient manner that DEFRA have recommended it for use in smoke control areas.

Should the traditional Black Diamond door not be your taste, ESSE offer the options of a modern-looking black or Stainless Steel door.

Now all you need to do is sit back and relax.

Make sure you have your stove checked every year by a HETAS qualified professional and this article will explain why your chimney should be swept annually.

  1. Rated 4 out of 5

We have had the ESSE 301SE stove since 2013, Each year about this time I give it an annual service i.e. Thorough cleaning inside the firebox, window and blacking outer surfaces. tip- no matter what fuel you use eventually the glass front will get dirty, I found that after a good clean, liberally smear the inside of the glass front with washing up liquid, I use Fairy Liquid. The liquid dries clear and when you come to clean it again, it is very easy due to the layer of Fairy. I sweep the chimney through the flue every year but don’t find very much soot or debris. This year I am replacing the rope door seal
